  2022-03-09

However, T1DM and associated hyperglycemia can adversely affect the structure and function of the heart in several mechanisms including inhibiting the anabolic effect of insulin due to its deficiency, generation of higher levels of ROS and induction of lipid peroxidation, and subsequent activation o

  2022-03-09

There has been conflicting evidence on the possible receptor mechanisms that mediate the neuro-immuno-modulatory effects of FAAH substrates. Evidence from in vitro studies indicates that AEA-mediated modulation of TLR4-induced neuroinflammation may be mediated by CB1/CB2 receptor dependent (Correa e

  2022-03-08

In this current study, we not only demonstrated the growth-inhibitory effects of the 2nd generation analog SL-1-39 on the HER2+ breast cancer cells, MDA-MB-453 and SKBR3 (Table 1), but we also demonstrated that the decrease in cell number was associated with an interruption of Dehydrocostus Lactone

  2022-03-08

The inhibitory activities of new compounds against P. aeruginosa were determined in both DTSB media supplemented with heme or free iron and LB media (Table 1). The MIC50 values of the compounds ranged from 42 to 260 μg/mL in DTSB medium and from 26 to 230 μg/mL in LB medium. Among these new inhibito

  2022-03-08

Protein structures determined in high resolution by X-ray crystallography and NMR techniques provide wealth of structural information on intra-domain and inter-domain protein interactions of small sized proteins. In addition, cryo-EM often provides low resolution structures of multi-component protei

  2022-03-08

We addressed the role of GSNOR-mediated T-cell activation in HHcy-accelerated atherosclerosis in vivo by two mouse models. Generated for the first time, GSNOR-/-ApoE-/- double knock-out mice showed decreased atherosclerosis in aortic roots in response to HHcy. The specificity of GSNOR ablation in T

Additionally, molecular imaging has great potential for noninvasive and quantitative imaging of pancreatic β-cells, but each single imaging modality has its own intrinsic strengths and limitations. Functional imaging modalities have high sensitivity (such as SPECT and PET) and anatomical imaging tec

Finally, the results in this article indicate that atomistic MD in conjunction with computational electrophysiology and ion-permeation simulations provide a useful tool for the functional annotation of ion-channel structures. In particular, they exemplify how MD simulations in native lipid membranes

We next compared the enhancing effects of 100nM zinc on currents produced by a low concentration of glycine with zinc effects on the same currents produced by the partial agonist taurine. In this experiment, zinc was co-applied with concentrations of glycine or taurine producing 5–10% of the maximal

  2022-03-08

Introduction Glucokinase (GCK, hexokinase IV) is a monomeric enzyme that catalyzes the ATP-dependent conversion of glucose to glucose 6-phosphate, the first and rate-limiting step of glycolysis in the liver and pancreas [1,2]. GCK was first discovered in the early 1960's, and shortly thereafter i

In the small intestine, digestion and LEE011 of the nutrients are the next processes with an impact on the resulting plasma profile. Normally, neither carbohydrate digestion nor absorption are limiting factors, which is illustrated by the rapid and extensive absorption of glucose in conditions with
