A second feature of the Ras-type GTPases is that their ‘on’ and ‘off’ states are temporally and often spatially separated from one another. This feature is essential for GTPases mediating signaling and other processes that need to be kept ‘off’ until the arrival of signaling cues. The need to recrui

In conclusion, GPR120 inhibits and GPR40 enhances the cell motile activity stimulated by TPA in melanoma cells, while MMP-9 activation was reduced by GPR40. In contrast, GPR40 negatively regulated cellular functions of fibrosarcoma ONX-0914 [11]. Taken together, it is suggested that opposite effects

  2022-03-28

Foreign polypeptide antigens can be incorporated into VLPs to create “chimeric” structures, either as fusions to either end of the VLP capsid (coat) protein (CP) or as additions to well-presented loops [18]. This kind of direct fusion to the coat is usually good for small peptides, however, larger p

  2022-03-28

In this study, we find that DH-CBD induces analgesic effects on inflammatory but not acute pain and the Cy5 maleimide (non-sulfonated) level of spinal α1 GlyRs increased after CFA paw injection. These results suggest that GlyR α1 is only involved in chronic pain. A possible explanation is that once

  2022-03-26

The absence of differences between GalR1 knockout and wild type mice in kainic acid-induced seizures suggests that GalR1 do not interfere with the seizure-inducing action of kainic acid. Postsynaptic kainate receptors are excitatory ionotropic glutamate receptors and their activation leads to seizur

There are additional implications of α2-subunit alterations in the hippocampus. P has anticonvulsant activity (Herzog, 1995, Herzog et al., 1997, Herzog et al., 2012, Reddy et al., 2001, Reddy, 2010). These actions result from the metabolic conversion of P to GABA-A receptor-modulating, antiseizure

• We hypothesize that HBO increases

  2022-03-26

We hypothesize that HBO2 increases GABA activity at the GABAA receptor via a nitric oxide dependent mechanism. Blotting for the phosphorylated β3 subunit of the GABAA receptor should theoretically be increased when there is more GABA activity at the receptor (McDonald et al., 1998). We expected that

A large body of literature have reported that various cellular pathways are dysregulated in NPC [19]. Among these pathways, Akt is frequently hyperactivated in NPC and regulates diverse cellular processes including tumor cell growth, proliferation, metabolism, survival and invasion, as well as angio

To date, three other allosteric binding sites of HIV-1 IN have also been reported. In the work of Wielens and co-workers [33], a pocket formed by the residues Tyr83, Trp108, Asn184, Ile200 and Val201 was found, which can be bound by small molecules. In the work by Rhodes et al.
