Reactive Dicarbonyls and Mitochondrial Dysfunction Although mitochondrial dysfunction has been suggested to be one of the main pathogenic mechanisms in diabetic neuropathy, little is known about the nature and extent of mitochondrial damage resulting from chronic hyperglycemia. Mitochondria funct

However, no reviews was focused on all the glutamate heteroreceptor complexes and how to understand why some were formed and not others in the glutamate synapses and their extrasynaptic regions. These receptor complexes are present on the glutamate nerve terminals and the dendritic spines on which t

Fig. 2A demonstrates the body weight gain of the pregestational females. High-fat diet in wild-type mice increased body weight in 2 weeks and sustained this increase over 8 weeks. A similar effect was noted in glut3 mice in response to a high-fat diet. Fig. 2B depicts fat and muscle mass as assessed

Acknowledgements Introduction Glucagon, a 29-amino rhein receptor peptide, is released from the pancreatic islets, intestine and stomach. Glucagon is released under hypoglycemic conditions and then elevates blood glucose levels, serving as a major counter hormone [1]. The regulation of glucos

  2022-05-04

A similar symbiotic relationship has been reported in the brain, where increased gradients of lactate secreted by astrocytes enables neurons to import and use this nutrient, a process referred to the ‘neuron–astrocyte lactate shuttle’ [16]. Similarly, lactate-based metabolic coupling established by

  2022-05-04

In conclusion, LA is able to enhance osteoblast differentiation that mediated by PTH in a MCT-1 independent but GPR81 signaling dependent manner. This increase requires p38 activation and an Akt activation that depended on Gβγ-protein-PLC-PKC signaling. However, the ability of LA to increase PTH–med

The mechanisms by which NEIL1 and NEIL3 excise bulky adducts and unhook ICLs are unclear. Structures of NEIL1 are available only in complex with DNA containing small lesions 79., 80., 81., and the single available structure of NEIL3 lacks DNA (Figure 5D,E) [73]. Nonetheless, comparison of the two st

Several groups studied CTD mouse models, which largely mimicked the symptoms (i.e. impaired cognition and autistic-like behaviour) of the human disease (Kurosawa et al., 2012; Baroncelli et al., 2016; Stockebrand, 2018). The CRT-1 knockout mice showed a drastic deterioration in the GABAergic system,

Nevertheless, in the brain, we found that trehalose phosphorylates AMPK, which is a metabolic sensor. AMPK is known to be transiently activated in muscle by acute exercise [21,22]. Bayod et al. also reported that AMPK was significantly activated in both the cerebral cortex and hippocampus in exercis
