Throughout the last few decades, evidence has accumulated indicating that NTTs, whose primary location is the cell surface, are subject to a series of regulatory processes of intracellular traffic to and from the membrane (Robinson and Jackson, 2016; Vaughan and Foster, 2013). In addition, lateral m

The concept of the axo-myelin ‘synapse’ Axons can release glutamate in a Ca+-dependent and independent manner (reviewed in [13,69]). Glutamate released from axons activates GluRs located in myelin, a feature that gave rise to the idea of the axo-myelin ‘synapse’ by analogy with classical synaptic

γ-Secretase modulators: a loss of pharmacology? A lack of translation from in vitro to in vivo pharmacology is an unresolved issue among most GSMs. R-flurbiprofen was tested in clinical trials, however, it did not achieve statistical significance on either of its primary endpoints – cognition or

  2022-06-06

NMDARs are glutamate-gated ionotropic receptors that are involved in excitatory neurotransmission and plasticity (Traynelis et al., 2010). There have been several reports showing that neurosteroids acting as negative modulators of NMDARs exert neuroprotective activity in both in vitro and in vivo mo

This hypothesis is in line with our phylogenetic analysis of FBPase sequences which revealed that vertebrate FBP2 evolved significantly faster than FBP1 (Fig. 2). An average distance between FBP2 and ancestral vertebrate FBPase was higher than that for FBP1. Moreover, preliminary study on amphibia

Neuropathic pain (NP) is a chronic pain caused by lesion or disease affecting any part of the nervous system leading to clinical conditions ranging from painful neuropathy to poststroke central pain. Anticonvulsant drugs, Gabapentin and Pregabalin, acting on αδ subunit-containing voltage-dependent c

In addition, SV exocytosis evoked by elevat

Before discovery of their histone demethylase function, the JARID1 isoforms were identified across diverse fields including stem cell biology and congenital disease, as detailed in Box 2. Their observed roles in cancer progression and therapy resistance have led to ongoing pursuit of inhibitors tail

Several plant-derived molecules such as resveratrol, curcumin, zerumbone, and physalin B have been reported as modulators of Hh/Gli signaling pathway (Hosoya et al., 2008, Mohapatra et al., 2015). Our previous studies have demonstrated that a sesquiterpene lactone and diarylheptanoids from Siegesbec

In an effort to further improve the intrinsic potency, we evaluated the effect of the C4-substituent of the triazole (). Replacement of the phenyl group with a cyclohexyl or with a 2-pyridyl substituent led to losses in potency. Increasing the size of the substituent to a bi-phenyl or naphthyl group

Mathematical models play an important role in understanding and predicting the dynamic process of HBV infection. In the 1990s, Nowak et al. proposed a basic model to analyze the effect of antiviral treatment on reducing viral loads (Nowak et al., 1996). Since then, many different mathematical models
