LFFs associating with green algae utilize polyols; therefore, we hypothesize that at least one polyol transport system is conserved in LFFs and it is required for the lichenization events that occur widely and independently in Ascomycota. Thus, the present study aimed to first evaluate phylogenetic

The concept of the axo-myelin ‘synapse’ Axons can release glutamate in a Ca+-dependent and independent manner (reviewed in [13,69]). Glutamate released from axons activates GluRs located in myelin, a feature that gave rise to the idea of the axo-myelin ‘synapse’ by analogy with classical synaptic

  2022-07-16

LbGlcK and the HsHxKIV-d-glucose complex (PDB entry 3IDH) [17] were superimposed from individual subunits. The active site regions revealed the key 324 4 binding residues to be present for LbGlcK; also, the superposition showed that HsHxKIV had residues that were absent in LbGlcK, such as K169 and

  2022-07-16

According to Laplace’s law, loss of myogenic response would increase wall stress and tension in downstream vessels and subsequently induce endothelial dysfunction and arterial stiffness [36]. Indeed, we found that arteries from FPR-1 KO mice presented with a leftward shift in the stress-strain curve

  2022-07-16

The objective of this study is to design and synthesize drug-like molecules with agonistic activity on both receptors; PPARγ and FFAR1. These agents would act as insulin sensitizers and insulin secretagogues through their action on PPARγ and FFAR1, respectively. The design of drugs with dual mode of

Acknowledgments I thank Takeshi Sakaba for critical reading of the manuscript and helpful comments. This work was supported by JSPS/MEXT KAKENHI Grant Numbers 17K19466, 17H03548. Introduction The oral route of drug application is the main route in pharmacology since it is easy to handle and o

  2022-07-15

The mechanism study demonstrated that BDNF is one of the fundamental mechanisms underlying JMJD2A effects during neuropathic pain. BDNF is a neurotrophin with essential functions in neuronal development and neuroplasticity. Accumulating evidence suggests that alterations in BDNF expression levels un

  2022-07-15

Conclusion The hub gene KIBRA and the Hippo signaling pathway were downregulated and miR-21 was upregulated in LAD. MiR-21 promoted the viability and mobility of LAD cells, reduced apoptosis and suppressed the Hippo signaling pathway in LAD through targeting KIBRA. Funding The study was appro

There were 11 hub genes identified by WGCNA among which KIBRA was the hub gene of the black module. The bioinformatics method is an effective and powerful tool to analyze mRNA 449 profiles and the related pathways. For instance, the lung cancer risk modules that were closely related to lung cancer

Introduction Histamine was generally accepted as a neurotransmitter in 1984, when histamine was first identified to be located in tuberomamillary nucleus (TM) of the brain (Watanabe et al., 1984). In mammals, histaminergic neurons play an important role in regulating multiple physiological activi

  2022-07-15

Studies conducted in our laboratory, thus far, have shown that HKDC1 is broadly expressed [28]. Using the first developed HKDC1 mouse model, we found that complete loss of HKDC1 function is embryonic lethal, similar to other HKs [29,30]. Further studies using HKDC1 heterozygous knockout mice showed

  2022-07-15

We previously evaluated the immuno-modulatory efficacy of GSNO in different EAE models and reported prophylactic and therapeutic efficacy of GSNO against the clinical disease of EAE [22], [36]. GSNO inhibited the IL-6-induced STAT3 activation (Tyr705 phosphorylation) by S-nitrosylation of the STAT3

Although resembling a differential symbiotic relationship, interplay between prostate tumour CAFs promotes PKM2/HIF-1-driven transcriptional regulation in prostate cancer cells that exploit lactate produced by CAFs and undergo epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) [21]. Although recent observat

  2022-07-15

The intracellular signaling that mediates the adipogenesis induced by GPR120 still remains largely unknown. In the present study we showed that TUG-891 induced the activation of [Ca2+]i and ERK1/2 signaling in 3T3-L1 cells. Moreover, incubation of TUG-891 combined with BAPTA-AM or U0126 abolished TU

Finally, we investigated if calpain truncation affects GlyT1 turnover and trafficking. To simulate calpain cleavage at the T602/T603 and G626/S627 sites we constructed GlyT1 transporters missing the last 12 and 36 amino acids. Since the 36 amino l arabinose truncation also removes all C-terminal ant
